Aamir Khan remind the CBFC that the job of the plank was to confirm a movie and not censor it.
The censor board has seen itself involved in argument after controversy in current times. Ever since the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) begin being head by Pahlaj Nihalani, there have been many instances when some moviemaker has been at loggerheads with him.
Just yesterday, news broke that Pahlaj Nihalani prearranged 48 cut in the future movie Babumoshai Bandookbaaz that star Bidita Bag and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the character roles. The CBFC object to convinced scenes and use of cuss words in the movie.
At the promo launch today of “Secret Superstar”, Aamir Khan, who is produce the movie that features Meher Vij, Zaira Wasim and him in the main roles, said that the job of the Central Board of Film Certification is to confirm movies and not censor them.
The 52-year-old actor said that he hope things will modify for the better soon.
When asked if restriction curbs a moviemaker from doing his job, Aamir told journalists, “I don’t know how pertinent it is today. As far as my information goes, the CBFC in any container isn’t imaginary to censor, it is supposed to confirm and grade.”
Aamir’s words are jump to be reminiscent one of the Bombay High Court’s ruling on last year’s Udta Punjab vs CBFC battle. The court had told the CBFC last year that the board job was to confirm movies and not censor them.
Aamir went on to say, “That’s how we be supposed to carry on. That’s even Mr Shyam Benegal’s advice if I am not wrong. So hopefully things will get improved soon.”
The CBFC has been protected in fight after bitter battle with moviemakers. In the recent past, Nihalani object to the use of the word “intercourse” in one of the mini trailer of Anushka Sharma’s and Shah Rukh Khan movie “Jab Harry Met Sejal”. The CBFC leader denied a official document to Alankrita Shrivastav’s movie Lipstick Under My Burkha by proverb it was a ‘lady-oriented’ movie.
A a small number of days ago, there were information that Pahlaj Nihalani had been asked to step down from the post of the CBFC president. However, there is nothing real on that face yet.
